I Voiced A Character on NBA2K21 Next Gen

GOD’s birthday present to me this year was a character named Grace Goldstein. She lives in #NBA2K21 Next Gen in one of the neighborhoods. She was my first voice over booking with my soon to be talent agency.⁣

Let me tell you how I got here...a testimony.⁣

When I was younger [aksjdjcfhxhhdhe], fcvk that intro haha. I WAS BORN WITH A DEEP AND RASPY VOICE that made me feel insecure because people kept mistaken me for a boy when I was younger. Customer service reps still call me sir to this DAY but now I chuckle inside when I correct them.⁣

I tried so hard to run away from my voice but I couldn’t. I leaned into it after getting compliments that I should do radio. Did radio at @norfolkstateuniversity, @emersoncollege, then eventually south florida but let me slightly rewind back.⁣

In 2018, I got the alley oop from the homies that the NBA was launching NBA2K League as its own separate league and they needed a sideline reporter. Got the gig and kicked off the first week. Didn’t do as well as they expected so I got dropped after the first week too. I WAS DEVASTATED and mad but still grateful for the opp.⁣

Moved to south florida that same year [redacted], met some dope ppl, and carried my ass back to new yark!⁣

Top of rona year 2020, I started taking VO classes eventually showcasing for some talent agencies, catching the attention of one. August 14, 2020, I read the lines for NBA2K21. Been sitting on this shit for a minute 🤫🤭⁣

Enter November 2020. A lot of unpacking happened this year. A lot of tears happened this year (and we ain’t even done yet). A lot of shit happened this year but I couldn’t have fathomed one of them being voicing a video game character. That shit hits differently so I’ll say this because the sandman is on its way.⁣

When you find Grace Goldstein (aka GG), tell her I said hello and that people are looking for her. She’s dope as hell and has a lighter outlook on life. She’ll hold you down if you need her. She’s otherworldly as she should be and is someone that you don’t meet twice.⁣

I’m still navigating challenges (some self-imposed) but we’re still here. Keep pressing on even when you don’t want to.⁣
